Soundies

The clip below presents three Soundies from the 1940s. Soundies are the predecessor of modern day music videos, and were played on a jukebox-like machine called The Panoram, at ten cents a pop.  The 40s was a very different time from today's, and this set of Soundies features what would now be considered "offensive" themes; however, it's also kind of amusing to see how some attitudes in this form of media have (or have not?) evolved through the years.

Another Soundie; this one stars Paul White and Dorothy Dandridge. (Dandridge would later go on to become the first African-American to be nominated for the "Best Actress" Academy Award in 1954, for her role in Carmen Jones.)
